Public Health Liaison

The Public Health Liaison Program (PHL) was established by the Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health in 2004. The program consists of a network of positions called the Public Health Liaisons across the state (one in each of the 18 districts) to serve as a link between public health and healthcare providers, long term care facilities, clinical laboratories, schools and veterinarians in the district. Increasing the timeliness, accuracy and consistency of notifiable disease reporting, and raising the awareness of disease surveillance issues and public health programs are important objectives of the PHL program.
